Before Your Visit
Both physiotherapists and doctors are able to diagnose your injury. Like doctors, physiotherapists are 'first contact' practitioners, so they do not need a referral from a doctor in order to examine, diagnose and treat injuries.
A referral is not necessary, though if you have one, bring it with you so that the physiotherapist can communicate with the referring practitioner if required.
If you have any reports or X-rays/scans, it may be helpful to bring them with you to the appointment.
During Treatment
Physical therapy shouldn't hurt, and it will be safe. But because you'll use parts of your body that are injured or have chronic pain, physical therapy can be challenging, even hard. For example, you may feel sore after stretching or deep tissue massage.
This depends on many factors. Following your assessment, our trained physiotherapists will discuss the anticipated number of treatments. If we see little to no improvement and think it necessary, referral to a specialist can be arranged.
Appointments, Parking & Payment
Initial appointments are approximately 40–50 minutes, and follow-up appointments are about 30 minutes. All of our clinics offer parking either in front or at the back of each building.
If your injury isn't covered by ACC, our physiotherapists are still happy to treat you. If you have medical insurance, we're more than happy to provide receipts for you to claim through them.
